We started the wedding 35 mins late. I should have directed the girls to start doing their hair at midnight to provide them the requisite 16 hours to finish the job.
Everybody was sweet to tell me that the delay just gave them more time to catch up with their friends. They were very accommodating to forgive all of our planning mistakes.
Katie said, “I love you” just before I presented her to Jamie and my heart stopped beating.
I didn’t want to crumble walking down the aisle so I barged in Katie’s dressing room just moments before we were scheduled to start so that I could absorb the shock of seeing her in her wedding gown. She yelled “Nobody can see me!” I told her to “Get over it.” She peered out behind the line of bride maids and smiled.
Katie refused to practice our Father / Daughter dance. But she has such skill and grace that she carried me through it anyway.
Chris, poor thing lost our room key so I was elected to go over to the honeymoon suite that evening and ask Katie if she had it. Only Jamie answered the door. Awkward moment. If there ever was a time that you do not want to knock on a door … that was it.
I love my wife today more than ever. Her hair looks great pulled up. She’s the hardest working, most capable, most loving person I know. If only people knew how much effort she put into designing and setting up that reception hall …

Normally, the formality of weddings is a real turn-off, but the casual dress code for this one really made it a relaxed affair.
Mrs. Langlois, Sr. is truly a class act. The matriarch of the whole outlaw enterprise, she has a way with making people feel extraordinarily welcomed.
Spending the evening laughing with the Langlois brothers and their kids on the porch was my favorite part. Joey stopped talking once, which gave me a chance to catch a glimpse of Katie, who was of course lovely.

The wedding ceremony was one that will never be duplicated. My first granddaughter to be married and have her Father perform the ceremony is an experience that cannot be put into words or money can buy. Proud is to small a word to describe the moment.

I really enjoyed the whole occasion, especially the Wedding talk, and the fist dance of the bride and groom. What I liked most was that the event was just simply elegant, by the beach; Katies dress, and Jamies light heartedness, it was so sweet. Hey, does uncle Bill want an African niece, he is a riot!

KABOBS!!!!
John’s talk and Jamies dance moves, and how nice and pretty Katie and her wedding party looked, and KABOBS!
Chris’s dance moves too.
And……………KABOBS!!!!!

Assembling the 880 kabobs together at Chris Arnone’s home early on Saturday with John , Cole and Company while listening to Crooner’s music in the background. Over the 4 hour time spam, implemented numerous productivity improvements. The food was excellent!!!
First heat wave of the summer, double digit temperatures.
Searching the island for enough ice tea and lemonade for the reception. Only to have a ton left over.
Jeff calling Katie about the gold palm tree with the white twinkle lights for the reception. We both wanted to 86 the tree. Glad we listened to Katie. It really looked nice at night with all the lights.
Setting up the reception hall took much longer than I anticipated to setup. I owe a big thank you to Mike (from the South Port community center), Jeff, Cole, Beverly, and Connie. Even with all the help I still wasn’t able to get a shower for the wedding until 3:50….
Late for my daughter’s wedding. Arrived 4:35.
Beautiful, elegant, stunning and down right gorgeous…. only a few words to describe Katie that day. Okay…. Jamie was handsome in his one of a kind pin stripe brown suit.
John and Katie walking down the aisle. Hugging her Dad before joining Jamie.
John giving Jamie and Katie the best gift, the phenomenal wedding talk I named “The Spring Line”.
The reception hall was simple yet elegant.
Katie and Jamie’s dance… nice moves….
In the flurry of cutting the cakes, Grandma’s saved piece of cake was passed out.
South Port community center… a beautiful setting for a wedding reception.
Gaining an awesome son in law. They complement each other.
The entire beach house crew pitching in to make this wedding memorable.
Due to the time constraint…. didn’t get to mingle with people. Thank you all for coming and being part of the evening.

Being around family and friends for a weekend was all I could have asked for. Seeing my boys conduct themselves with such maturity brought me boundless pride.
Not sure where John, Chris, Katy or Jamie found the composure to not break down during the ceremony. It was moving to see Dad all over the nuptials.
Southport is most definitely a place I will frequent!
Too bad we can’t do it again

I just want to take a moment to thank everybody for coming to our wedding. Katie and I really appreciate the love and support that you all have given us.
Wow, what can I say about the wedding. It started late. A few minutes turned into 35. A special thanks to my on the spot directors Karsten and Scott for helping keep everything under control. The wait did allow my groomsmen and I to perform a few Vince Lombardi motivational speeches in the back room which were hilarious and helped to ease the tension. Yet, the wait was worth it. Kate, you were beautiful. You are beautiful. I am so glad and thankful that you are my wife. I was completely speechless when I saw you walk down the aisle. I was also worried that you would trip on the paper “white carpet,” but you made it up safely. good job
We only practiced the walk through 2 times. I think everyone did quite well with it. Thanks to brother Applegate from the southport congregation for operating the sound booth. That was a real lifesaver.
During the wedding, I almost broke down when John talked about my momma. I had to hold it together though. Man law. However, I will let you all know that mom brought some of that famous strawberry jam to the beach, and since dad made breakfast every morning, know that there were biscuits and that all were satisfied. Also, I have never had midback pain before until standing on stage. Weird.
Reception was awesome. We should have done a better job of scoping out the picutures location, but I think we found a nice place. Unfortunately, we couldn’t plan for the Sahara like heat wave. This made us late for the reception, as the girls had to go get “prettied up” again. Here is where I want to thank Aunt Gale and sister Kerchoff for their services. Not only did my Aunt help with hair and makeup, but she made every cake at the rehersal dinner. Those cakes were crazy. You’d have to see them. Thanks again to all family members that helped out with the dinner and with the setup. Our ship would have run aground without you
Thanks to John for that wedding talk. Great job, and great illustrations. My uncle said he will start using the spring line now when he takes the boat out.
The reception was fun. I enjoyed catching up with everyone. I am dissapointed that I didn’t get to speak to more family members though. I had to go and take so many pictures, and had to do so many things, that it was hard to make it around. But, my heartfelt thanks to everyone that did come, and if I didn’t get to speak to you, I am so sorry and will see you soon.
Katie and I are about to pack for Europe, and Chick Fil A is calling my name, so I must go. Love you all. please mind my spelling errors. I got a C in grammar class.

o, and I forgot to thank Chris Langlois, my new mother in law for everything that she did in putting together the reception. Also, to our cook Chris Arnone aka Chef Fat Boy. The Kabobs and fixins were excellent, as many have already posted.

Had a wonderful time, great fellowship, got some very nice pics, ate some splendid food, and watched a beautiful couple start their life together with Jehovah’s blessing…yes indeed it was a good day. The location was very nice and I know that both sets of parents and family are very proud.

It was a beautiful wedding - and we feel very much - part of it - as a result of our District Convention Part together in 2006. Thanks!

I really enjoyed Jamie and Katherine wedding because of how simple it was. It goes to show that when things are done Jehovah’s way, the outcome is wonderful. So I hope the best for the couple and that they continue to stay strong in their faith…

So for those of us in Minnesota who couldn’t make it to the wedding, could you post a copy of your wedding talk?
14 John Langlois // Jun 26, 2008 at 12:10 pm
@ John A. I’ll send you a copy of the talk. We missed you.
